“No film of Fairbanks’ presented a greater spectacle than Thief of Bagdad, his magnum opus. Having dazzled audiences with his enormous sets for Robin Hood, he chose to outdo himself for his Arabian Nights movie. On the one hand, Thief is the movie you want to see as a kid, when its wonderful special effects can work their best magic. On the other hand, its magnificent design, its sophisticated sense of Arabian Nights fantasies, and its tongue-in-cheek star may be best appreciated by adults. In other words, it’s a film for all ages and for all decades.”
– Jeanine Basinger.

“A feat of motion picture art which has never been equaled.”
– New York Times

"An Arabian Nights fantasy (with a Christian slant) that was and still is one of the most lavishly beautiful films ever made."
-- TV Guide - Movie Guide

“The greatest thing that ever has been put on the screen!”
– New York Herald Tribune

"Unprecedented special effects and sets… perhaps the first great achievement of cinematic epic mythopoeia, and the forerunner to the likes of The Lord of the Rings."
-- Decent Films - Christian film guide

“Here is magic. Here is beauty. … It is a work of rare genius.”
– Photoplay

“The Thief of Bagdad is unquestionably Fairbanks’ masterpiece.”
–Richard Schickel

You can help promote our project

If you have a good color printer you can download and print our poster/flyer and distribute it in places around the community that would help spread the word about our performances. Passing out flyers to and leaving some for interested people would also be great for our project. The file is big so it can be printed as small as 8 ½ X 11 (standard sheet of paper) and as big as 27 x 40 (standard movie poster size).
