VCS Radio Symphony LIVE

Vacaville Performing Arts Theater, 1010 Ulatis Drive, Vacaville, Ca.

Clifton Williams -- Symphonic Dances #3 – “Fiesta”

“Fiesta” is part 3 of a 5 part work by Clifton Williams, commissioned in 1964 by the San Antonio Symphony. The lively tones evoke a scene of celebration,

bright, flashing colors and a heroic bullfight to round things off. Williams began his career as a virtuoso French Hornist and his love of the brass instruments shines throughout his work.

Sammy Timberg -- The Superman Series – (1941) Mad Scientist Billion Dollar Limited

Sammy Timberg was best known for his work with Max and Dave Fleischer of Fleischer Studios, who produced classic cartoons like Betty Boop and Popeye. His work in the Superman series of films was truly iconic. However, much of the original scores from this masterful animation series has been lost to time. The VCS Radio Conservatory is honored to be given the long-term opportunity to fully restore and perform lost works LIVE with the film; two episodes per year.

VCS Radio Symphony performs LIVE for Buster Keaton's exciting comedy movie at Brenden Theatres in August

VCS Radio Symphony -- August 12, 13, and 14, 2019 at 7:00pm -- Brenden Theatres

If you haven't seen a Buster Keaten film, this is the one to start your adventure with one of the most excellent filmmaker comics in history.

This film has it all! Love, betrayal, and redemption, are all rolled up into some of the most inventive comic stunts on the big screen. Filmed in the Sacramento delta waters in 1928, Keaton stuns audiences with tumbling buildings and death-defying visuals that'll keep you at the edge of your seat!

"...some of the best moments in movie history… wildly inventive, increasingly audacious stunts."
---Steven D. Greydanus, Decent Films Guide

What's even more exciting is that the film will be accompanied LIVE by The VCS Radio Symphony, renown for their groundbreaking film performances. These aspiring artists have produced over 20 major film projects as well as score restorations, orchestrations, and compositions.

VCS alumnus, Evan Losoya is composing the brilliant new musical score.
